As a highly sensitive person, you may often feel that your body is working against you, especially when dealing with chronic health issues. But what if I told you that there's a way to shift this perspective and see your body as your greatest ally?

Every healing journey has a turning point, a moment that shifts our perspective and opens up new possibilities. For me, that moment came during a session with an energy healer and therapist. She asked me a simple yet profound question:
"How could your condition be serving you?"
At first, I was taken aback. How could my digestive autoimmune condition possibly be serving me? I had a long list of ways it was hindering my life:
- Lack of energy to get through the day
- Feeling like an ineffective parent
- Unable to pursue desired trainings or work as much as I wanted
- Dealing with daily pain and exhaustion
But as I reflected on my defensive reaction, I realized that I was clinging to my limitations. This realization led me to a process of self-reflection that would ultimately transform my relationship with my body and my healing journey.
The Three-Question Process for Shifting Your Perspective
To help you navigate this shift in perspective, I've developed a three-question process. Grab a pen and paper, and let's dive in:
If your symptoms disappeared, how would you live differently?
Imagine that all your symptoms vanished overnight. What would you do? How would your daily life change? For me, one dream that emerged was pursuing my master Reiki certification. I had always felt called to this path but never felt I had the time or energy to pursue it.
Take a moment to envision your life without limitations. What dreams would you chase? What actions would you take?
2. What qualities would you need to pursue your dreams?
Once you've identified what you'd do differently, consider the personal qualities you'd need to make those changes. In my case, to pursue Reiki master training, I realized I would need:
Trust in my intuition
Confidence in my ability to channel life force energy
Deep compassion for individuals struggling with health issues
As you reflect on this question, pay attention to any fears or doubts that arise. For me, imposter syndrome crept in, making me question if I was truly qualified to be an energy healer.
3. How could your symptoms help develop these qualities?
This is where the magic happens. Consider how your current challenges might be cultivating the very qualities you need to pursue your dreams. In my journey, I realized that my condition was deepening my compassion and pushing me to trust my intuition more fully.
